Just started the implementation of Exchange 2007 in the production
environment and ran in to an issue.

Current setup (Clustered Exchange 2003 SP2 on 2003 Servers accepting emails
for 2 domains + connector to Rightfax)

New Exchange 2007 (Mailbox, Client, Hub) was installed on a 64bit 2003
Enterprise Server R2 in the same domain. Mailbox Role failed during the
initial install (the exchange server address list service failed to respond.
this could be because of an address list or email address policy
configuration error), but was successful on the 2nd attempt. Now on the 2007
box any time I try to move the mailbox or create a new user, I get Event ID
8325, which according to MS KBID 935636 is the problem with the recipient
filter. I do have ampersands in 2 of my recipient filters (one is in the
Recipient Policy for the 2nd domain another one in the Recipient Policy for
the RightFax), I was able to find them in Values of purportedSearch
attribute.

Exchange 2003 must be up for at least another month (this is how long it may
take to move all of the mailboxes.) So is if i remove ampersands, will my
recipient policies continue to function when new users get added in the 2003
envirnoment? The article is not go in to detail on that.

Any help is appriciated.

Thank you

You really haven't given us enough detail to answer your question. First,
please post the entire event log message. You can use the little
handy-dandy copy-to-clipboard button in the event log detail window for
that. Second, you didn't tell us what your recipient filters are or
specifically what you would be changing.

Error message in the Application log when I try to add a new user on Exhange
2007

The service can't work properly because Email Address Policy
'CN=COMPANY1,CN=Recipient Policies,CN=RIGHTFAX,CN=Microsoft
Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=corp,DC=local' has an invalid
filter rule (PurportedSearch). The error is 'ANR is not supported.'. Use the
Exchange Management Console to correct this problem. New users, contacts,
and groups won't be fully provisioned until this is fixed.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recipient Policy COMPANY1 adds @compnay1.com to the users who have comp1- in
the user name name

(&(&(|(&(objectCategory=person)(objectSid=*)(!samAccountType:1.2.840.113556.1.4.804:=3))(&(objectCategory=person)(!objectSid=*))(&(objectCategory=group)(groupType:1.2.840.113556.1.4.804:=14)))(anr=comp1-*)))

Not sure what Recipient Policy RIGHTFAX does to every one

(&(mailNickname=*)(legacyExchangeDN=/O=First Administrative
Group/OU=Company/*))

As you can see both policies have & and 2007 for some reason does not like
it.

Forgot to add MSExchangeAL is the source of the error message
Address List Synchronization is the category

That query won't work. That (anr=...) clause isn't supported in Exchange
2007. You're going to have to figure out an alternate query to do the same
thing. Take a step backward and determine what it is you're trying to match
with the query and maybe you can think of an alternative that doesn't depend
on ambiguous name resolution.
