From: Ted Nolan <tednolan> on 9 Aug 2010 00:48 I have a number of old Lucent Orinoco 802.11b "wi" cards. These have always been super reliable, and have seen me though releases of FreeBSD from 4.X to 7.X. So far, I am unable to get them to work in FreeBSD 8.1. When I insert the card in the PCMCIA slot, it is correctly identified as "wi0". Then I can create the wlan device with ifconfig wlan0 create wlandev wi0 this seems to complete successfully, and gives the wlan0 MAC address as being the one from the wi0 card. However, I cannot connect to anything. Doing ifconfig wlan0 up scan produces no results, and the transmit light on the card does blink. Similarly dhclient wlan0 fails. If I insert an ath0 card, and configure that, wlan0 works as expected. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ted -- ------ columbiaclosings.com What's not in Columbia anymore.. |
