From: Richard M. Hartman on 11 Nov 2009 18:54 I finally decided to upgrade from Win2000 pro to WinXP pro so I could use something more recent than IE6. I got the XP SP2 OEM cd and code from our IT and installed. Now when I attempt to log in I get a popup with the title "Windows Product Activation" and the text shown above in the subject line. This happens with my own account (member of Administrators group) and with the actual Administrator account. This happens when booting regular, or in safe mode with networking. Any suggestions? -- -Richard M. Hartman 186,000 mi/sec: not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
From: Richard M. Hartman on 12 Nov 2009 16:44 Replying to myself to add new info. I just downloaded the mgadiag tool. In the "Windows" tab, the Product Key is _not_ the one I entered (TWICE!) during the XP upgrade. My best guess is that it is the key from the earlier 2000 pro installation. This is probably what the problem is. Now ... how do I get to enter the proper key? -- -Richard M. Hartman 186,000 mi/sec: not just a good idea, it's the LAW! "Richard M.
