From: akira on 10 Aug 2010 12:08 Dont know if this is the right group to ask this question, if not, please point me to the right direction. :) ID3 mass tagger is a small freeware command line utility for manipulating id3 and id3v2 tags to mp3 files. Ive played around with it a little and it seems really powerful. Now, it is capable of generating tag fields from the filename, but whatever I try, I just cant get it to work. Ive googled around with no luck either. Im trying to generate tags from this path: genre\[year] artist - album\trackname title.mp3 This is the website, including some examples (but it lacks the filename option, damn!). http://home.wanadoo.nl/squell/id3.html -- akira
From: akira on 10 Aug 2010 16:14 .... so Yrrah whispered: > http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ Yes, Im familiar with tagging programs -- there are zillions out there! :) But Im searching for a (Windows) command line program for use in a batch file, AND capable of WRITING ID3v2. One should think there are many also, but yet, "ID3 mass tager" is the only one Ive found -- and looks promising. Now if I only could figure out how to generate tags from filenames ... -- akira

EG: are you using " " (double quotes) correctly? 2.please supply an EXACT example of the syntax you say does not work. -hotch

It's very powerful and will rename the files in any order you want from whatever metadata you want. http://www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html This is for v2.46... I'm at v2.44 and it works really well.
