From: MadDog on 5 Mar 2010 10:23 I've been using ACT! with Outlook now for almost a year and the integration (ACT! has several add-ins in Outlook) has been flawless. I also use the ACT! address book in Outlook which is now the source of my problem. I'm now unable to run Outlook with my ACT! (2010) address book added, at all. If I add the ACT! address book, I get an "Outlook cannot display this view" error in a dialog box, and I can't successfully start up Outlook until I remove the ACT! address book. As soon as I remove the ACT! address book, Outlook is fine. I'm totally at a loss as to how I can go from flawless performance to being unable to start Outlook at all. I've tried repairing the .pst using the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe), compacting outlook.pst, and building a new Outlook profile, all to no avail. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you.

Sounds like you should contact Sage (http://www.act.com/company/contactus/index.cfm). What do they say about it? -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]
From: MadDog on 5 Mar 2010 13:59 I think this is what it pretty much comes down to. I'll do that either today, or Monday. From: MadDog on 5 Mar 2010 15:22 I just tried something but not sure what to do from here, since it seems to point back to Outlook. I just created a new Outlook profile again, but instead of using my outlook.pst file, I used the new one that Outlook created. I'm then able to add the ACT! address book and it functions perfectly. Doesn't this somehow point back to the Outlook.pst file? Or could it be something in the Registry? Is there a way to create a new .pst file using my "old" outlook.pst data? I think I actually got this fixed. What I ultimately did was: 1) Export outlook.pst using File, Import/Export. 2) Create new Outlook profile, with new outlook.pst file. 3) Import .pst file from Step 1 using File, Import/Export. This is now working, at least for now. |
