Not sure what Krishna meant, but if you do go for i386 have a look in the package management system for any packages containing 686 in the name. The description should have more details, but these are usually the same packages optimized for the respective processors and all Pentium Pro or later processors will benefit from it. You might also want to run the -amd64 kernel, which will give you a mixed system (64bit kernel, 32bit userland). From: Merciadri Luca on 1 Jul 2010 13:50 Thanks. I'll have a deeper look in this as soon as possible. I have ever choosen AMD when possible and they run all Linux flavours like a charm. Just for the record, - I like challengers, and AMD is Intel's one (with more or less success) - ATI (graphics) are now owned by AMD and http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/enterprise-linux/amd-will-deliver-open-graphics-drivers/ http://www.linux.com/archive/feed/119049 -- Architecte Informatique chez Blueline/Gulfsat: Administration Systeme, Recherche & Developpement +261 34 56 000 19 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST(a)lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
