From: Paul Piko on 11 Aug 2010 09:55 Jorge, One of the Facelift configuration files defines the conversion from a VO WED control to a corresponding .NET control. When you choose Windows Form output, for example, a VO FixedIcon is mapped to a PictureBox, a bBrowser is mapped to a DataGridView, and a Classmate cMaskedEdit is mapped to a MaskedTextBox. Facelift's purpose is to save the time and effort of having to manually reconstruct windows in the form designer. Facelift deals with VO Window binary entities, and the controls contained in them. I don't think a class like bArrayserver is available as a WED control. But if there are controls that aren't currently handled the configuration files can be updated to process them. Unrecognised controls are converted to labels, as place-holders. From: Paul Piko on 11 Aug 2010 10:04 Brian, Thanks. Having moved a number of clients to take advantage of the features available in the newer GUIs I found that repainting screens was an unfulfilling task. With Facelift automating the process I was able to concentrate on the changes rather than spending a large amount of time in the window designer. From: Ginny Caughey on 11 Aug 2010 11:20 Paul, have you considered a trial version of Facelift? That's a lot to pay if it doesn't work well enough, but it's also a great price if it works well. -- Ginny Caughey www.wasteworks.com
From: Paul Piko on 11 Aug 2010 19:51 Ginny, I have considered a trial version but do not have one at this stage. What I can offer is this: if you (or anyone) wants to send me an AEF containing a window I will run Facelift and send back the Visual Studio solutions (VS2008/2010, Vulcan/C#/VB, WinForm/WPF). The AEF only needs to contain the window's binary, and as much or little of the window class code as you like; it doesn't need to be a complete or even running application, just the window. The email address to send the AEF to is: iwantafacelift at vulcanmindmeld.net. Hopefully some of the users of Facelift will join in and share their experiences.
