From: Daniel on 5 Mar 2010 08:29 Hello, Usually Units = Work / Duration, but in some case it seems this formula doesn't work. I performed some basic tests in project: First test: I created a fixed duration task: 1 resource, Units = 100%, Work =5d, actual Work=0, so Duration = 5d and Remaining work =5d I changed Rem Work from 5d to 6d, the task become Units= 120%, Work =6d, so Duration = 5d and Remaining work =6d which is fine. Second test: I created a fixed duration task: 1 resource, Units = 100%, Work =5d, actual Work=1d, so Duration = 5d and Remaining work=4d I changed Rem Work from 4d to 5d, the task become Units= 125%, Work =6d, so Duration = 5d and Act W.=1d, Remaining work =5d Can anybody tell me why Unit=125%? (in both tests W/D=6/5=120%)
From: Jan De Messemaeker on 5 Mar 2010 08:52 Hi Daniel, Additional remaining work is spread out ofver the 4 days of remaining duration (what's done is done) So during those 4 days units are 125% (5/4) And Units always show the MAXIMUM, not the AVERAGE Hope this helps, -- Jan De Messemaeker Microsoft Project Most Valuable Professional +32 495 300 620 For availability check: http://users.online.be/prom-ade/Calendar.pdf "Daniel" <daniel(a)discussions.microsoft.com.> wrote in message news:E0787461-0F79-4777-84C9-3DF6D4E181AC(a)microsoft.com... > Hello, > Usually Units = Work / Duration, but in some case it seems this formula > doesn't work. > I performed some basic tests in project: > First test: I created a fixed duration task: > 1 resource, Units = 100%, Work =5d, actual Work=0, so Duration = 5d and > Remaining work =5d > I changed Rem Work from 5d to 6d, the task become > Units= 120%, Work =6d, so Duration = 5d and Remaining work =6d which is > fine. > > Second test: I created a fixed duration task: > 1 resource, Units = 100%, Work =5d, actual Work=1d, so Duration = 5d and > Remaining work=4d > I changed Rem Work from 4d to 5d, the task become > Units= 125%, Work =6d, so Duration = 5d and Act W.=1d, Remaining work =5d > Can anybody tell me why Unit=125%?
