From: anant on 29 Jul 2010 02:29 Hallo, friends we have matlab of version 5.3.1 & we have to approximate our solution analytically. Our expressions are very big. I am using matlab symbolic toolbox. Is it better to use MuPAD? In using MuPAD we will have to pay extra money or it is free. Please, guide me. Thanks in advance.

I do not have enough experience with MuPad to make a proper judgment of it. My _impression_ is that the simplifier is not as powerful as the current Maple simplifier, but that could be a case of "selective observation". And you do not have the latest Maple simplifier; your version is 8 or more years old. New versions of Maple also have substantially improved numerics (hardware floating point) built in to them. > In using MuPAD we will have to pay extra money or it is free. MuPad (in the Symbolic Toolbox) is not free. You would also have to upgrade your Matlab to at least 2008b (I think it is). Both Mathworks and Maplesoft offer free trials.
