From: Chlaris on 9 Feb 2008 09:21 Dear all, On completion of the installation, a message box entitled "Workgroup Administrator" appears with the message: "An error has occurred at changing workgroup database" On clicking the OK button, another message box with the same title appears: "Setup couldn't create a system.mdw file. After setup is complete, reboot your computer then run the workgroup administrator before you run this application (-1011)." Please help. Thx. Chlaris

Either install Access 97 as an administrator of manually create a System.MDW file in a less locked down location and join it using the Workgroup Administrator tool. -- Rick Brandt, Microsoft Access MVP Email (as appropriate) to... Actually in this case he would need to run the Office setup program as administrator wouldn't he? Needing to run msaccess.exe as administrator might be required for operational reasons as well, but if he wants the setup program to be able to create system.mdw in the System32 folder, then I expect that the setup.exe is what will need to be run as administrator. Can that even be done to an exe that is on a CD? If it's not he might need to actually log into his PC with the Administrator account to do the install. To the OP...I have run Access 97 runtimes on Vista and tested that, but I have not tested installing Office 97 on Vista. The installation of the runtime did not require me to do anything special, but I did so as a Windows user that was in the Administrators group for the machine. -- Rick Brandt, Microsoft Access MVP Email (as appropriate) to...
