In case it is a model-wide design fault, I'd seek refund or
credit towards another dissimilar model if possible, not
just a replacement with same model.

I have the same exact system , and the same problems . I have tried
everything to resolve this , without breaking the seals , to no avail. I
too will most likely be shipping it back.I have done system restores ,
tried Win7 , went back to the original set up. No luck. I noticed the
nVidia 8200/9200 update problem too , but correcting that was no help.
This is a drag , because I am injured and out of work , an the Net is my
only way to "travel"

Damn. Certainly looks like a default model problem. Looks like we both
have to trade them back in. Its ok for me because i still have my laptop
to work with. But it doesn't look so good for you. Well at least i know
someone else has the same problem, i know its a bad thing, but now i
know that im not the only one, and that i haven't done anything to cause
it, it must be the manufacturer/supplier. I hope it goes well for you
ScottyDawg. Hopefully our next computers should perform better.
