From: kev12175 on 13 Jun 2010 07:24 Can anyone confirm that the Processor has to be removed to replace this part. Also looking at the 1545 I see no reason for removing the screen to replace this part although the screen bezel is very close and may have to be removed. I am fitting one of these next week . I may be of more help then .

I may be of > more help then . > > According to the Inspiron 1545 service manual on the Dell web site, the 1545 breaks down like other Dell laptops: # Remove the hard drive (see Removing the Hard Drive). # Remove the optical drive (see Removing the Optical Drive). # Remove the center control cover (see Removing the Center Control Cover). # Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard). # Remove the base cover (see Removing the Base Cover). # Remove any installed memory modules (see Removing the Memory Module(s)). # Remove the processor heat sink and processor (see Removing the Processor Heat Sink and Removing the Processor). # Remove the display assembly (see Removing the Display Assembly). # Remove the eleven screws from the computer base. In other words, you need to remove the display and other things, then remove the palmrest and turn it over to replace the touchpad. Why not download the 1545 service manual and study it first? The Dell service manuals for laptops are quite good! Far better than HPaq's (not generally available to the public, but you can get your own contraband black market copy), Toshiba's (can't find anywhere), Acer-eGateMachines (ditto) ... Ben Myers
From: kev12175 on 17 Jun 2010 14:19 Hi Bob good luck but i really dont think you need to remove the screen or the processor to replace this part . Maybe just the power panel the keyboard and some base screws . Once the keyboard is off you will have a better idea . If you need to remove the Bezel be gentle lifting the middle bottom part between the 2 screws as there is an adheasive strip running from left screw to the right one as i replaced a bezel today on that model . Thanks kevin
