From: Harry B. on 28 Dec 2009 07:56 Hello! There is an application with an HLP based helpfile. This helpfile should be changed to a CHM based helpfile. I'm using H&M 3.4.0.939. All is working fine with one execption: I can't view help sections by using anchors any more. For a dialog with a tab control there is a help topic with help text sections for every tab page. At the beginning of each section there is an anchor. Within VO I could show the help of a chapter for ex. with the following statement: SELF:HelpDisplay:show("1775"). "1775" is the contence of the field "Help Context" in the anchor definition dialog of H&M. How can I view those help sections with a CHM based helpfile? TIA, Harry B.
From: Geoff Schaller on 28 Dec 2009 15:52 Harry, I never used anchors so I don't know how they work but chm has different mechanisms to achieve the same thing. Have you read the manual? You still use A keywords and you can still use Topic Ids. You can have hidden topics and popup help. The sample help files (and H&M's own manual) have good examples of all this. From: Geoff Schaller on 28 Dec 2009 19:42 Harry. What does your question mark mean? That you don't understand my response or you don't understand the mechanism or that you can't find info in the help. I use 'book marks' (never used the term 'anchor'). However, when I look up book mark in the latest version of the manual (V5) it comes up with a nice page on how to create anchors, referring to them also as book marks. So the information is there and I guess they are the same thing. Again I ask: have you read the manual? I created a quick book mark in one of my manuals and it seems to work as expected. Yes, I've read the manual, and Anchor is exactly what I need. And it works with H&M V5. But I don't know how to set keywords to an anchor in my version V3. --Harry B.
