For me, it definitely is worth upgrading; I'm just waiting for the package to arrive from Apple, using the trial version to get up to speed on the changes. So far, so good. And all my current plugins seem to work just fine, but being 32-bit, mean that I have to run Aperture 3 in 32-bit mode, which is easy to change, and to later change back.

Does the v3 Trial overwrite the v2 application? Are the libraries, etc. compatible or will it convert my existing library into a format that Aperture 2 doesn't understand?

Not if you rename the existing version first. So I've got v2 to do continuing work, and v3 to test until the package arrives next week. > Are the libraries, etc. > compatible or will it convert my existing library into a format that > Aperture 2 doesn't understand? That's why you change the name of the v2 application already installed. When you install the v3 trial, it asks where you want it to put the trial library. If you don't do that, it will over write the existing application, and convert your library.
