Terminal is excellent solution! Well spotted.

I wonder because that's my nature (recall the fable of the frog and the
scorpion).

I suppose it's alright for others; I don't render HTML in my email
client.

But there is a defaults write to Mail's preferences that will do it or,
for those too squeamish for the Terminal, there's TinkerTool.

I meant making an HTML form for a webpage, nothing to do with
email. In email forms and server side scripts, there is a need to
tell the script(s) and the hidden inputs in the form about what
email addresses to send the data to.

Anyway, the problem is solved by a Terminal command. I hope there
are such commands to fix the least little thing I am not going to
like about 10.6. I am shy to tell you about them till I
investigate a bit more. <g>

So why would I be copying an address from a email message to past into
this form?

Right; and there's TinkerTool for the Terminalphobes.

How would I know, this is nothing to do with you or me.

I gave you an example of where it is ethically pure to copy paste
an email address. I was not talking pasting into a form on a
webpage, I was talking pasting into text files that get parked on
servers. These text files are the machinery, as it were, behind
web forms.
