Tuesday is the normal release day for new Mac models, but other Apple products can be released or updated on different days of the week. New iPods models are traditionally introduced on a Wednesday (last ones were on 9 September 2009, before that was 11 March 2009). (I haven't checked iPhone and iPad release days, but Friday/Saturday rings a bell.) Snow Leopard was released on Friday 28 August 2009, but earlier versions were all over the place. Last major update of Logic Studio and Final Cut Studio were on a Thursday (23 July 2009), but Aperture 3 was on a Tuesday (9 February 2010). There are exceptions to Tuesday for Macs: the mid 2009 MacBook Pros were released on Monday 8 June 2009, coinciding with the WWDC keynote. I also recall at least one occasion where a new Mac was released on a Wednesday when the Monday that week was a public holiday. -- David Empson dempson(a)actrix.gen.nz

They used to have a tradition of releasing new OS versions on March 24th[0] which, given that that's my birthday, I thought was highly appropriate. Strangely my free copies all seemed to get lost in the post... Jim [0] ok, they may have done it once or twice. -- "Microsoft admitted its Vista operating system was a 'less good product' in what IT experts have described as the most ambitious understatement since the captain of the Titanic reported some slightly damp tablecloths." http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/ |
