Isn't it? 13" MacBook Pro is quoted at 9.25/week "...based on three year agreement with ownership option at the expiry for 39". So that works out at 9.25 x 52 x 3 + 39 = 1482 to own something that costs 850 + VAT on the Apple store. Shorter leases will be proportionately more and from previous experience, admittedly quite a few years ago now and on slightly more esoteric kit, the cost of leasing exceeded that of buying at about 4 months on the headline price and 6 months when tax benefits were taken into account. However, the important thing is that I should hush my mouth and fully support Gavsta in his efforts to get his employers to switch to Macs. I'm sure they will find them indispensable after only a month or two and then will find themselves stuck with a lease... Ow, stop kicking me. I havent looked in depth yet as I have been too busy, but as they only want a max of a 1 year Lease, where does the 3 years come in? Also, they are not my "employers", they are a site I work for, of many sites I also work for. Moneys not really the issue, its the being lumbered with the kit they dont want. -- Gavin. Then why don;t they the kit then you can offer to sell it off when they have finished. I'm sure you or anyone else could make a nice little earner out of thatOr depending on how much rent they'll pay couldn't you or anyone buy the kit, then rent it out to them. Might be too much hassle though.

If money's really not the issue, suggest they buy outright and offer to dispose of it for them at no cost if they don't want it. Alternatively, you could suggest they buy outright and you will buy off them if they don't want it... at a rate which means their eventual costs are far lower than if they'd leased, and you'd still turn a profit from the resale value on eBay. If it's the upfront costs they're worried about, buy the kit yourself and lease it to them! Even on credit you'd likely still make a profit. -z- -- email: nettid1 at fastmail dot fm

The 3 years comes in because that is the period for which the headline prices on the site apply for. They didn't appear to have prices for shorter periods so I wasn't able to give six months and one year comparisons that you are after. > Also, they are not my "employers", they are a site I work for, of many > sites I also work for. Sorry - I was thinking Gavin and Gavsta were different people. > Moneys not really the issue, its the being lumbered with the kit they > dont want. In that case, the site posted seems as good as any other. Regards, -- Bruce Horrocks Surrey England (bruce at scorecrow dot com) |
