At one point, I would have said that compatibility would be determined by the card. If it can step down to 4x, it will work; if not, it won't. My experience with that craptastic PC Chips board, though, has proven me wrong. I would talk to Asus about the video card, and also your motherboard's manufacturer. Be careful to read their language: If they quickly rattle of that it "should" work, you should probably asks for someone that can make an informed answer rather than just guess.
