From: Carlos on 30 Jul 2010 08:08 We are getting closer to August 1st, the alleged date when MSFT will no longer support this group. Will August 1st be "E.L.E." (Extinction Level Event) like the movie? :) I am still posting both via Web and one of the servers already suggested here. I expect to see everybody around here in the afterlife next Monday. Carlos

We should be OK as long as MSFT don't issue a 'rmgroup' instruction, even then most servers will ignore it :-) -- Jeff Gaines Dorset UK Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his friends for his life. From: R. C. White on 30 Jul 2010 09:41 Hi, Carlos. I don't know what will happen this Sunday (August 1). But I've been subscribe to this NG in TWO News Accounts since July 1. I'm still subscribed here on the msnews.microsoft.com server, where there are now 980 messages, 0 unread. This goes back 90 days; the earliest post is 5/1/2010. AND I've subscribed to this same NG on my ISP's news server, which I think is Giganews. That NG now shows 69,997 messages (back to 5/8/2005), because I chose to download "All Messages" one time and patiently waited for hours as they were all downloaded via cable. Then I used Catch Up to mark them all read. I've read some of the messages received there since then, but not all, since I'm also reading them here; I currently show 234 unread in that NG. I'll probably continue to use both News Accounts until this one does actually disappear, whenever that might be. I'll see you here (and here <g> ) next Monday - and until this situation gets resolved, one way or another. (OT: Parade magazine (July 25) quoted the actor Robert Duvall's answer to a question about his "fascination with the tango. Do you still dance?" His reply: "Yes, sir. I practice the walk every day. You can learn a figure in five minutes, but it takes you 10 years to walk like an Argentine.") RC -- R. C. I could suggest you get a bit more modern newsreader. Forte Agent 6 can do a "catch-up" without actually downloading anything, and it also can also receive the headers in compressed form, which makes retrieving a lot of them, very quick (up to 10 times faster). jud
From: Carlos on 30 Jul 2010 10:45 R.C., I saw Robert Duvall once in downtown Buenos Aires when walking in a popular touristic place ("La Recoleta"). I know that, among other things, he has something to do with horses and that his wife was born in Argentina. Not quite related with this, but the late actor of "El Zorro" in the TV series, Guy Williams spent the last days of his life living in Buenos Aires. I was born there but since 1982 I'm living in Rio Grande, 2,000 miles south. Carlos "R. C. White" wrote: > Hi, Carlos. > > I don't know what will happen this Sunday (August 1).
