While AutoHotKey was originally *based* on an older version of AutoIt (v2), it has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years. Admittedly its script language has an atrocious syntax (remnants of the old AutoIt2 syntax), but the software itself can do more than AutoIt 3.2. Hotstring expansion, for starters. What's more, the stuff is rock-solid and reliable, much more so than any other hotkey package I have ever tried (this stability alone has saved me hours of grief). Not to mention the fact that Chris Mallett, the lead programmer, is diligently fixing bugs and implementing new features. http://www.autohotkey.com -- cheers thomasl mail: thomas.lauer(a)virgin.net web : http://thomaslauer.com/start

I like it, to implement little tasks fast the perfect solution. Great learning curve, some GUI features, flexible script language. An example I created using AutoIt: http://lostfound.raum108.de/create_m3u/ Regards, Thorsten -- connect thorsten.duhn(a)editorial.de load http://www.editorial.de load http://www.freewareguide.de system failure:> abort, retry, fail?_
From: DaleHohm on 16 Aug 2006 01:13 I think that AutoIt is pretty amazing and the improvements and additions to 3.2 are very impressive. The improvements to the GUI functions and the new COM support are particularly significant. The COM support allowed me to write an Internet Explorer Automation Library that is included in the new release that allows you to script anything you can do interactively with IE plus a lot that you can't, AutoIt has become a very well architected, yet easy to learn language. It has a huge number of user contributed convenience functions that add lots of general and specialized functionality.. The forum is very active and helpful (averaging ~700 posts per day) and you may want to check out a new, growing Snippet Database here: http://quadryders.com/phpcc/index.php Highly recommended- check it out.
