From: georgeoaker on 17 Feb 2008 23:37 After installing the early February collection of automatic updates on Windows XP Home, powering off the machine, and powering it back on again, I found my Windows environment to be markedly different: modern (not classic) start menu, many items misssing from start menu, many desktop icons missing, others not in their usual places, Symantec Anti-Virus failed on launch, and many more. Fortunately, a Start - Turn off computer - Restart restored the machine to its familiar configuration.
