From: confused on dotx confused on on 16 Feb 2010 09:47 I created a new .dotx file in word 2007. When I go to use it in word 2007, it automatically opens in compatibility mode which makes the active x control features like drop downs not work. How can I make it open without being in compatibility mode?
From: Stefan Blom on 16 Feb 2010 10:27 Compatibility mode is for Word 97-2003 templates and documents, only. I suspect what you are seeing is files opening in *Design* mode. You can turn it off by clicking the button on the Developer tab, but note that macro security forces Design mode. Rather than reducing the security level, I'd advise against using ActiveX controls. Use content controls or form fields instead. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "confused on dotx" <confused on dotx(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E8AF40A3-F19D-4E80-9526-6E098B6F8188(a)microsoft.com... >I created a new .dotx file in word 2007.
