Hello Hans,

for Tcl/Tk 8.5 there are some patches floating around that make BLT
2.4z work with it. Then there is Refactored BLT (RBC, http://wiki.tcl.tk/24533)
that has BLT's vector, graph, barchart, stripchart, winop, and eps
components.

RBC was released once. I think it was after some students working a
summer job changed it. I do not think it is going to be actively
maintained. I have been reluctant to use it for that reason. BLT
itself seems to be getting some work by the original author.
Unfortunately, that work is happening in a secret chamber somewhere
deep below the surface of the ocean :) Nonetheless, I expect that as a
result of that work, BLT will be what ultimately gets maintained. That
is just my own guess, as nothing has been suggested by the BLT author.
As BLT is a critical part of a number of my applications, I have
stayed at an older version of Tcl/Tk. This is frustrating, as I would
really like to use the tile features. Some day...

I use the tile 0.8 package which works with BLT and 8.4.19 tcl.

To package the whole I use an older version of freewrap, one other
project uses the same tcl and the BLT .so with no problems.

I was able to compile for 8.5 and use cvs HEAD ( 3.0 ) from blt cvs on linux recently.
configure still has some issues though ( files go into wrong places on installation)

Maybe in a reasonable timeframe BLT 3.0 will be anounced?
