From: davy on 22 Oct 2009 06:52 Try and get them for that model.... the diameter is very important and the length needs to be considered if you are getting alternative lamps. You'll find there is at least two depending on screen design, some are easy to change and some are not.... but do remember to replace all the silver foil screening back in the right place to stop any EMR (Electro Magnetic Radiation)... radio interference! They work and behave like those in shops except they don't have the heaters at the end, instead they use a high voltage, plus the fact they need to emit white light and not tinted. davy
From: davy on 31 Oct 2009 23:02 This should ''throw some light'' (http://www.nelt.co.jp/english/products/ccfl/about.html)... suppose it could be arguable if they are the same or not - the 'prime mover' is different, that is the method of getting the gas ionized, the end product is the same. Quoting M1.5 > Although lamps can be had, getting at the failed lamp is a whole > different matter..... there's only been the odd monitors where they are readily removable, many are held in with tiny plastic clips to stop any shock or movement... ... what worries me is LCD TV's, when they go it's usually a complete display section - and the devils are getting bigger and bigger, 28" used be the norm, now its 32 & 42 plus inches and bigger. Surprising the comments you hear when you tell the customer the 'bad news', I've scrapped a few myself no more than about 2 years old, they think you are ripping em' off, and you get the same ol' reply, "well, we've not had it long, it shouldn't av' gone so soon", just what can you do? -Any budding TV engineers out there think about a plumbing trade instead :D- davy
From: emmasb on 2 Nov 2009 16:52 I managed to get a backlight for 13 off ebay and fit it, it works well now, though the wires on the new backlight were slightly too short, I have managed to bodge it a little so it all works and there is still a connection with the foil background. I am delighted... Thanks again Emma

Congratulations. When you replace a backlight, save the WIRES from the old backlight. If necessary splice them for length or to get the right connector. NOTE: Most CCFL backlight lamps use (require? - not sure) SILVER wire, which is relatively expensive and hard to get (although I think that Mouser and Digikey in the US do sell it). another reason for keeping the old wire. emmasb wrote: > I managed to get a backlight for 13 off ebay and fit it, it works well > now, though the wires on the new backlight were slightly too short, I > have managed to bodge it a little so it all works and there is still a > connection with the foil background.
