This image is normally stored on an external drive and can be restored at any time. The image contains everything that was on the drive, OS, Data, Settings, etc. Much like an ISO image. There are other programs that do the same, and this may not be the best, but I use it and find it workable. I've replaced drives and it will allow a 100Gig drive to be replaced with a 500Gig drive and will resize the partition on the fly. Most better programs like this will. If you do a bit of research on imaging software you should get up to speed easily.
