From: Al Dykes on 31 Mar 2010 17:19 I've got a new Inspiron and I'm practicing with backup and recovery before I start using it for real. I've run the reimaging CD and it works but the system needs lots of drivers and Dell software foundon the second CD. WHen I start the D&U CD it scans the machine and gives me a list of applicable packages. Do I just install them from the list, top to bottom? -- Al Dykes News is something someone wants to suppress, everything else is advertising. - Lord Northcliffe, publisher of the Daily Mail

There's a page on the Dell support website that gives the recommended order somewhere. It's most important to install the motherboard "chipset", power management, and storage controller drivers first. Beyond that - I don't think it much matters.

Many drivers, especially video and audio, ask you to reboot once installation is complate. Why waste the time rebooting and rebooting? ... Ben Myers
