AC and meter movements
How does one use AC to actuate a D'Arsonval (Weston) meter movement? Is a single rectifier sufficient? Bridge? Movement of interest says "FS = 45.8 uA DC". Extra points for links to drive circuits. Thanks. ... 12 Apr 2010 15:54

'scope probes and 100MHz EMI
The other day I hooked up a LT1016 comparator (live bug prototype on a 6” X 8” piece of copper clad) to trigger on pulses from a PMT. Pulses are ~ 300ns long and ~100mV high. I sent a low level sine wave into the input (50 ohm terminated to ground) and looked at the output with a X10 scope probe. (TEK TDS2022 2... 9 Apr 2010 23:24

Question for the gurus...
Need to rewire (to add a ground) several outlets in my house, which will require that I locate the breaker serving each outlet. Wondering if I couldn't build my own circuit breaker identifier out of a 9VDC wall-wart and some junkbox parts. Am thinking I could just use the wall-wart to run a 10kHz oscillator, ... 7 Apr 2010 08:58

Simple oscillator circuit
I want a simple oscillator circuit that will give 30 kilohertz. <http://tinypic.com/m/9quype/3> Which of these components do I change to achieve this? What values should these be? If I want a little variance (~10 percent) it should be the resistor, right? What other opamps can I use? Thank you. ... 7 Apr 2010 08:58
