Certainly. After you clicked "OK." The Ubuntu installation service isn't going to install proprietary graphics drivers without your explicit consent. You can use the nv driver to get a marginally functional desktop, probably not at the resolution you want, and that's about it. nVidia do provide binary blobs which are pretty good in general, and I don't know what went wrong in this case. Unfortunately, nVidia shows no signs of freeing its drivers. |
