From: Lino on 21 Jun 2010 20:03 Here's the Binding Problem that some of you physics oriented folks may want to tackle (it's easier than the Theory of Everything). The Binding Problem is in these terms. There are separate modules in the brain for shape, color, movement, etc. and there is no common site where the outputs of all of these parallel modules are combined into one or a common site processor that integrates them. So how come you see images as one unified whole?? For example. How come you see a bicycle as one when the analysis of each aspect like color, shape, movement, etc. are in separate parts of the brain and no common processor that integrates or combine them? The discovered 40 Hertz oscillations don't solve the Binding Problem at all. Anyone can offer a clue? I'm thinking along quantum coherence in microtubules initially but it didn't explain split brain where each side of the brain has separate consciousness. Quantum coherence is supposed to bind the whole brain and split brain phenomenon seems to refute it. What's your proposed solution to the brain Binding Problem? Lino
