I know some one on this group knows the answer.

When I try to load "kate" it will not load get message:

KDEInit could not launch :"kata"

from CLI get:
joeking(a)linux:~> kate
kate: symbol lookup error: /opt/kde3/lib/libkmdi.so.1: undefined symbol:
_ZN7QWidget26setPaletteBackgroundPixmE�
joeking(a)linux:~>
