OpenOffice has some templates here:
http://templates.services.openoffice.org/en/search/node/business%20card

However, I would recommend the do-it-yourself route and use Inkscape.
There should be some sort of template that comes with your card sheets
giving the dimensions and layout. Make a grid then make your design,
group all the elements and copy to the rest of the grid. Hide the grid
and print. Sounds more complicated than it is.

I made mine this way, saved it to bitmap, convert it to CMYK and sent it to
an online printing company and I now have professionnal business cards for
a few bucks (well... euros)

I ended up using Scribus, the DTP & sending it out as pdf/ps. Great
results.

Yes, Scribus is also a great app to make this kind of work.
