M measures his speed to be zero and M' measures his own speed to be non-zero because he's on a train. That sounds simple enough to me, what am I supposed to do with it? > Not sure how the radar gun invalidates SRT. =============================== Hmm... MMX has a null result (i.e. if a radar gun was the MMX source of light beside the detector and the car was the mirror then the readout is always zero velocity = no Doppler shift = no fringe shift). Ok, so the car is parked. But we know that the supposed solution to MMX is length contraction as per SR. This is because the speed of light is c in the universal aether frame system inertial absolute reference wotsit "stationary" (and any other words used to mean the same thing without ever agreeing that it exists), and the Earth and the radar gun and the car and MMX all moving together through the universal aether frame system inertial absolute reference wotsit "stationary" (and any other words used to mean the same thing without ever agreeing that it exists). Unfortunately for SR the radar gun works, the car moves, there are fringe shifts in MMX when the mirror moves toward or away from the source. According to SR, we cannot simply compute c+v, we have to use http://www.fourmilab.ch/etexts/einstein/specrel/www/figures/img76.gif= [c] which I'll put in square brackets to represent (c+v)/(1+v/c)= [c] So Doppler radar guns don't work in SR, f' = f .[c]/c = f * 1 = no shift, where [c] = (c+v)/(1+v/c) Hence millions of cops doing real experiments around the world have disproven SR.

Yes .. and the clock synch is only defined to work when they are NOT moving relative to each other. SRT combined two accepted hypotheses that appeared to be incompatible. ================================== Which, logically, they are, never mind the "appeared". You appear to be illogical, because you are. The PoR is an axiom, not an hypothesis. If you think you can state the PoR clearly without giving an example as Einstein did, then do so. The light speed postulate is an hypothesis which Einstein stated very clearly. The PoR: A meets B when B meets A; not before, not after. It is so obvious it cannot be disputed. In the twin paradox less time passes for the travelling twin than the stay-at-home twin. The travelling twin therefore meets the stay-at-home twin before the stay-at-home twin meets the travelling twin, which is absurd. Therefore time dilation is absurd. If we assume that the result proved for a polygonal line is also valid for a continuously curved line, we arrive at this result: If one of two synchronous clocks at A is moved in a closed curve with constant velocity until it returns to A, the journey lasting t YEARS, then by the clock which has remained at rest the travelled clock on its arrival at A will be 1/2tv^2/c^2 YEARS slow. Thence we conclude that a balance-clock at the equator must go more slowly, by a very small amount, than a precisely similar clock situated at one of the poles under otherwise identical conditions. Thence we conclude that Antarctica is the oldest continent. Thence we conclude that Antarctica has been around the Sun more often than its twin, Africa. Thence we conclude the Earth is a flat disc, like a CD-ROM or a galaxy. Thence we conclude that relativists are flat-Earthers. Let's do the numbers v = 0.0001c v^2/c^2 = 0.00000001 The Earth is 4,000,000,000 years old, so Let t = 4,000,000,000 years. The travelled Earth is 40 years slow.

I think I see what you mean - the signal from the radar gun to the target travels at c, and the target reflects it a again at c, so since the moving target does not add to the speed of the refelcted signal, the return journey takes place at c as well. But the question is does doppler shifting invalidate SRT? Invalidate is a strong word... |
