From: SUDHEER JOSEPH on 11 Aug 2010 01:07 Dear Users, I am a researcher in Earth science, I and I wish to use matlabs buttord function to design a filter that filters daily timeseries of sea level. I have read the help for it and it says BUTTORD Butterworth filter order selection. [N, Wn] = BUTTORD(Wp, Ws, Rp, Rs) returns the order N of the lowest order digital Butterworth filter that loses no more than Rp dB in the passband and has at least Rs dB of attenuation in the stopband. But the data I have is in units of days I would like to know in this case what should be inputs for Wp Ws Rp Rs if I wand to design a high pass filter which allows only data which has frequencies higher that 90 days. Which units I need to specify the inputs?. My data is a change of height of sea from its mean position with respect to time? Please help
