Hi

This folder (C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MyExServer.log) has all the log files
dating back to the time the server went into production.

- Can some of these older files be manually deleted ?
- How far back should they be kept ?
- Is there a system setting that deals with the log files in this folder ?

Thanks
Steve

What are some of the log file names in this folder? What version of
Exchange?

As of now, the folder has 1257 files. All files have .LOG extension.
Filename is basically the date of log (ie. 20061113.log being the older
file, 20100421.log being the latest file).

The server is Exchange 2003 (v. 6.5.7638.1)

Below is the heading in every log file.

# Message Tracking Log File

# Exchange System Attendant Version 6.5.7638.1

# Date Time client-ip Client-hostname Partner-Name
Server-hostname server-IP Recipient-Address Event-ID
MSGID Priority Recipient-Report-Status total-bytes
Number-Recipients Origination-Time Encryption service-Version
Linked-MSGID Message-Subject Sender-Address

Thanks
Steve

Ah, Message Tracking Log files. You can turn this off or just adjust the
log files to be deleted automatically after x days. See,

Thank you very much for the helpful link.

I applied the setting yesterday, and today the folder just freed up 25GB of
dormant space. For our server, it's 10%.

Right on!
Steve
