I separately searched, found others have had this problem, one said caused by Media Player running in the background, I disabled that but no luck. So I'm still working on that issue. Both drives use XP default drivers. The CD drive only recognizes an audio disk, and the CD/DVD drive does not recognize a cd disk. Whether it works with a DVD does not matter for my use. I will look for manf. drivers as a next step. ms

You didn't see the line that says "The media in your CD or DVD drive cannot be read" under "What it fixes"? -- dadiOH ____________________________ dadiOH's dandies v3.06... ....a help file of info about MP3s, recording from LP/cassette and tips & tricks on this and that.
