Chris has never held back from demanding very high quality results but he tends to assume his readers already have some experience. Newbies might find Radified is an easier way to learn ripping. http://mp3.radified.com/

Exact Audio Copy <http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/> with LAME encoder. Here's a manual (a bit outdated, but it's still useful) <http://fred.pouchayret.free.fr/eac-qs-en.htm> It's a bit of a hassle to set it up, but once everything is in place it's very easy to rip CDs to MP3. Why use EAC? Because it's the best (or so I've been told by 'people who know what's best). If your old CDs have scratches on them you'll find EAC very handy; it's very thorough. -- s|b |
