Mplayer has some prequisites, and this is one of them. -- Amnon Feiner http://www.woodcontour.com Solid Wood and Stone PC Peripherals

Have you looked at /usr/lib/codecs? Is there a folder or a file there with the name cpio*.* Be aware that in several previous versions of SuSE, and other distros, when I've gone to Packman, and others to get files and libraries which I can't get legally here in the US, there are always dependencies. If I've attempted to use Yast to install some of the files, and their dependencies, I get errors relating to the fact that I'm supposed to have some programs or files installed *first* before others will subsequently load. This is my procedure: I obtain all of the files I'll need. I'll then install the base program, like MPlayer or Xine. I'll then use KPackage or the command line rpm program, and *force* the installation when the package manager tells me it's missing something or other. When I've forced the installation of all of the required dependencies, my programs then function correctly. I run into this issue every time I upgrade. I have to search for and obtain DVD player files, and all of the media codecs I need for all of my needs. I haven't used 10.0 yet, so I can't give you details on what might be happening to you. I'm usually one or two releases behind everyone else, so finding rpms is usually not too difficult. And keep in mind that some libraries you may not actually need, like maybe lib theora, unless you're a diehard media nut. I wish I could be more helpful, but in 9.1 and 9.2, the file locations for some things is different than in 10.0 Also, make sure you have the correct files for your distribution. w32codecs should be the same for all versions of 10.0 Hope that helps you out! vg
