It seems that if Dell never sold a computer with a certain configuration they will tell you that you can't do it. But it doesn't mean that you can't. So a new CPU chip becomes available, and it does not get a mention in the specs. There are two indicators of what a given computer model is capable of doing. The motherboard chipset defines one limit as to the types of CPU and amount of memory supported. Then the BIOS, cobbled by Dell for us, may or may not impose other limits by refusing to boot if the CPU is not one of the ones it supports... Ben Myers
