This morning (23-Mar UTC+12), Google Groups chronology is all screwed
up, with random historical posts interspersed with recent posts.
What's going on?

If you're referring to the messages like "Fall 2009 MATLAB Contest, November
4th - 11th" popping back up to the top, it looks like a link spammer is
practicing "thread necromancy" (posting to old threads) simply to advertise
his/her site.

No, Steve, it's random messages for example from 16 Mar, 17 Mar, 21
Mar, etc, with no new reply in them that could have brought them
forward.

Google Groups is failing rather badly lately on indexing posts. Quite a few
posts of mine from the last few months cannot be found. This is not a new
problem, but it seems to be getting worse :(
