I am sure I have some other soundblaster cards in the other room. I might have an Audigy and maybe a Live, but not sure right now. Will try to get this one working, it always worked really well in Linux and last time I had a problem getting it going but once I did, it worked really well. I just used yum to install awesfx and yum updated the package. I also used telinit to get to a regular console because I like to boot to run level 3 and use startx and it will help with the video drive. I downloaded the nvidia driver but it won't run because it cannot find the kernel headers! I just used yum to install pkg "kernel-devel" and that worked fine but Nvidia still won't run because it cannot find the kernel headers. > Don't forget that to get your "beryl", run (kde and gnome2 support): > > yum install -y ccsm emerald-themes compizconfig-backend-kconfig > compizconfig-backend-gconf fusion-icon* emerald compiz-fusion > compiz-fusion-gnome libcompizconfig compiz-gnome compiz-bcop compiz > compizconfig-python compiz-fusion-extras compiz-fusion-extras-gnome > compiz-kde compiz-manager I watched the packages install and compiz and beryl were in the list! But I cannot use them without the nvidia driver. Oh one more thing is drving me batty, please help. In a runlevel 3 console, the font is very, very small and worst, there is no mouse at all so I can no longer copy and paste anything from the console! Is there anyway to get the console mouse back? Please forgive me, I will have a ton of questions for a while and then I will die back down again. Thank you Aho and everyone else. -- ~Ohmster | ohmster59 /a/t/ gmail dot com Put "messageforohmster" in message body (That is Message Body, not Subject!) to pass my spam filter.

There are two things which can be done when it comes to the font size, you can choose to boot into another screen resolution, see the vga kernel boot option. Another thing that can be done is to use another font than the default for the console, I don't remember which file did have that in RedHat based distros. -- //Aho

And because it is a development distribution, RedHat does not provide customer support for it.

You can install the package "svgatextmode" which will let you change to a different text raster size sync rate etc, and load different fonts. svgatextmode uses a config file not entirely unlike the old XF86Config which lists a bunch of sets of settings for different modes. --- news://freenews.netfront.net/ - complaints: news(a)netfront.net --- |
