From: march5 on 10 Mar 2010 11:39 I have ab Sandisk Cruzer Micro with 4GB. I added U3 to it. My question is, now, you can only run U3 software on the stick. Not even portable ones. U3 software comes as an *.u3p. It has its own platform to be run on Launchpad. Can you convert Office to U3P portablity?

The reason, Office software when installed writes an enormous amount of data to the Operating System registry which "ties" it to that individual computer. Without that information available to the program it will fail to run. From one support site for U3 "U3 works best for simple programs and applications with few support files that are U3-aware, or at least rely minimally on Windows Registry, so that the apps can take full advantage of U3 platform, although you can add as many supporting DLLs and other EXEs as you need." Note the phrase rely minimally on Windows Registry. If you can get it to work great but don't bet the farm on it.
From: Rojo Habe on 10 Mar 2010 12:14 Officially no, although I daresay if you google around you'll find someone who's ported it illegally. Or you could try Sun's OpenOffice from here: http://software.u3.com/Product_Details.aspx?productId=109 which is perfectly legal, totally free and compatible with all versions of Office.
