From: Pat Walters [MSFT] on
"hixcks",

I am sorry you are running into this issue. I see two possible problems:
A. The trusted sites are slightly misconfigured because of the redirection
that the site takes. This correction will suffice for the next few weeks.
Please cut the list from the 5 you listed to these three:
1. http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com (this will allow v3, v4, and
v5)
2. https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com (this will allow the HTTPS
path)
3. http://download.microsoft.com (this is the site from
which you are downloading the updates themselves.

B. You may have a piece of software on your system that destroys the initial
request during the download phase. You can use msconfig from the Run menu
to shut off all non-microsoft services and programs, then actually go in and
shut off those items that may not obey the MSCONFIG.

Please write back and let us know how this goes.

Sincerely,

Pat Walters [MSFT]
