Next: SP2 upgrade
From: Pat Walters [MSFT] on 24 Mar 2005 17:04 "hixcks", I am sorry you are running into this issue. I see two possible problems: A. The trusted sites are slightly misconfigured because of the redirection that the site takes. This correction will suffice for the next few weeks. Please cut the list from the 5 you listed to these three: 1. http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com (this will allow v3, v4, and v5) 2. https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com (this will allow the HTTPS path) 3. http://download.microsoft.com (this is the site from which you are downloading the updates themselves. B. You may have a piece of software on your system that destroys the initial request during the download phase. You can use msconfig from the Run menu to shut off all non-microsoft services and programs, then actually go in and shut off those items that may not obey the MSCONFIG. Please write back and let us know how this goes.
