From: Paul H on 21 Sep 2009 23:21 My entire home is wired for Ethernet, so when I'm home, this laptop is plugged in, unless I decide to wander somewhere in the house or yard, in which case my encrypted wireless supports me, slower but acceptable. Yes I would turn it off. Most BIOS you can turn it off there. Next if that fails, I would disable it under the Device Manager. Although I don't know if they will kill the power to the wireless, I've never tried it. Maybe I will try that later. It does work for the built in webcam. <vbg> -- Bill Asus EEE PC 702G8 ~ 2GB RAM ~ 16GB-SDHC Windows XP SP2
From: Paul H on 22 Sep 2009 10:03 I just want an on-off switch, not disable it. I will only turn it off when I am at home and plugged into Ethernet - else leave it on in the back yard or at an internet cafe. But on the assumption there is no switch, then what do you want to do? Just leave it on all of the time? Or do you want to toggle it on and off through software? -- Bill Asus EEE PC 702G8 ~ 2GB RAM ~ 16GB-SDHC Windows XP SP2
From: Paul H on 25 Sep 2009 14:05 I found it. The indicator light above the function keys, while not appearing to depress, somehow knows when one runs a finger over it, and toggles the wireless off or on.
