Thank you very much Papa for this info and I have read your web page which I
have tried without success. I just cannot work out how to change file
extensiions.

I have a new laptop Sony Vio, with Windows 7. I have also installed Movie
Maker 2, which has worked very successfully with clips imported from my old
Canon camcorder .

I have now replaced my much used Canon camcorder with a JVC GH-HD300BEK
full HD. File extension reads .mts. WMM will not allow me to import clips.

I can import and play clips in Windows Live Movie ..which is an absolutely
USELESS programme for making movies. Windows Media Player will also play the
files. The most important programme Windows Movie Maker 2, will not import
or play clips ?

Could you please advise how I can get over this problem Please?…Are there
some codec's I might download from Microsoft?

Many thanks……………………..Darcy

I'm not PapaJohn but if you want to import .mts files into
Movie Maker 2 you need to convert them to a compatible
format. .WMV or .DV-AVI.

Have you read the following article:
