I get a msg when trying to open Word (Office 2003)

"the function you are attempting to run contains macros or content that
requires macro language support (you chose not to install support for
macros....etc)"

I have tried detect and repair. I also renamed normal.dot

MS KB on this simply states the macros VB is not enabled, but this stopping
Word from opening all of a sudden so it is damaged.

How can I fix this?
