It's very handy, Chris, to be able to capture a snippet of video without
changing camera, and, of course, with the large sensor, high ISOs, and
large aperture lenses, a DSLR can capture video at light levels well below
those where the P&S has faded to black....

Cheers,
David

Funny. I have a P&S camera that allows me to take videos in the total
darkness by IR illumination alone. It also comes in handy to take hand-held
IR photos and videos in daylight with a real-time IR preview in the
viewfinder for focusing and composing. You sure don't know much about P&S
cameras do you. It's a wonder you even feel safe typing the monicker "P&S"
to describe them considering you know absolutely nothing about them, as
you've just proved--AGAIN.

No funny, Mr/Ms/It Troll. Your P&S IR illuminator is no help when taking
videos of distant landscapes, or the Northern Lights. Unlike you, I have
both a P&S and a DSLR, and am quite happy use whichever camera most suits
my needs.

Showing me that you've used neither type of camera for those tasks. I have
a large collection of aurora photos taken with P&S cameras. I can capture
stars down to magnitude 9.4 with my P&S cameras. Aurora are easy targets
compared to that. I have so many photos of them that today I only capture
the more interesting color-combos and shapes of them.

Here's one of a mediocre display compared to others I've photographed, but
the green against the deep blue of the summer midnight-sky at high
latitudes is a nice color blend with the bright stars. Shot with a P&S
camera. It's not one of my many marketable shots but one I'm willing to
show to prove to everyone what a complete dolt you really are.

Why must you DSLR-Trolls insist on proving to the whole world what idiots
you are? If anything, it's going to make people buy P&S cameras just so
they don't appear as stupid as you. Anytime I see someone carrying a DSLR
today, I can't help but think, "Damn, now there's one stupid person. Just
like those I read from on the internet."

I don't doubt any of it: it just struck me as an oxymoron that a
"stills" SLR had a sound bug....

Actually one tog said to me the video with sound was useful at the start
of a shoot to ask the model to hold up her ID whilst you asked her to
confirm name, age etc.
