Took some shots of ornaments on the tree. Nothing spectacular, just trying
out a few different techniques...

The first one is handheld at 1/8 second at high ISO, so is at best a soft
image, probably some camera shake too. But, curious how it looks.

The second was taken at ISO 100 using my 75 - 300mm lens zoomed to 260mm.
It was a tripod shot, so should be crisper if it's in focus. But, not sure
if it's really in focus.

Also, the second shot had light from window, plus on-camera flash and a
reflector positioned just to the right.

I like the second one better. Nice reflections and colors. Both are
interesting compositions.

Happy New Year!

Well, I don't care for either. The first is way out of focus and the
orientation of the ornament looks like it's upside-down. The second
is much better, but still not sharp and the flash puts too much
emphasis on the fake tree needles.

Try for some interesting lighting. A plastic ornament in a plastic
tree isn't normally a very interesting subject, so try to make it
interesting. There are lots of pretty colored lights and a reflective
ornament - get those aspects together and see what happens.

Thanks, Ray, for the feedback.I appreciate your taking the time to tell me
what you think.

I especially appreciate the detail about the flash, as I was trying for a
sidelit shot mainly lit by the window, with the flash providing a bit of
fill. It sounds like the flash was too strong.

Once again, thanks,
Dudley
