From: Drew on 5 Jun 2010 10:40 When I try to connect to http://companyweb from a client PC, it goes to the 'Welcome to Small Business Server 2003' page. Then the link on this page to the Company Web page does not work. (no error message). However, I can connect to http://companyweb.default.aspx OK. (As Administrator or normal user) What has changed? 1 Could you access Companyweb before? Yes 2 Did you make any changes on the SBS Server or install any software/updates on the Server, recently? Yes. After installing a SQL 2000 auto update, the company web stopped working. Sharepoint used SQL 2000 WMSDE. I reinstalled the Sharepoint Services 2.0 and WSS SP3, using KB829114, 829113, 829112. Applied updates 809544 and then 832880. Plus restored the Companyweb Database. Ran (cure all!) CEICW once setup was complete. 3 Can you access Companyweb on the SBS Server Console? Yes. Clink on http://companyweb and it takes me to http://companyweb.default.aspx 4 Can you access RWW (https://localhost/remote) and OWA (https://localhost/exchange)? Yes 5 I have upgraded the SHAREPOINT and MONITORING instances from SQL 2000 WMSDE to SQL Server 2000 SP4. (to try and avoid another auto update issue!) Using the SBS 2003 Premium Edition SP2 Anybody got any ideas or any questions that would help me to fix the issue? -- Many Thanks Drew
From: Russ SBITS.Biz [SBS-MVP] on 5 Jun 2010 18:48 First BRAVO Great way to ask a question (I wish Everyone did this, Can we make this an example of how to post a question to the newsgroup?) A Shot in the dark here! Ok I know this sounds weird, but it almost sounds like a DNS issue I've seen a similar issue and the other issue was that RWW to a desktop didn't work. And they were using the new Version of DYNDNS that Pointed the SBS DNS to DynDNS Servers So Company Web could not be seen only Externally and From the SBS server A shot in the dark but look at the properties of the NIC does it show the DNS as the SBS Server itself? Because I've seen this Exact thing happen because of it not correct. (If this isn't it we can go on to other things.)
