Well, kewl, Doug. I'm deep into tax season at the moment but I'll mark
this to come back to later...it is certainly one of the
newer-implemented capabilities that has real use that not having means
some of what I could respond with I don't as it seems counterproductive
to not show "modern" code when it's clear there is a better way.

Doug (or anyone really), have you thought of creating a similar substitute suite for cellfun, arrayfun, spfun, etc(?) that older versions don't have? It would help out some of the top posters around here like dpb that are stuck on old MATLAB versions due to retirement :)
