I remember reading a message (in the VDR mailing list IIRC) saying that MPlayer didn't have any good deinterlacers like Greedy2Frame. BTW, when using "new" style deinterlacing the "i" key doesn't seem to do anything. Shouldn't it now toggle deint pp filters on and off if they're being used instead of the old xv deinterlacer? -- The address in the Reply-To is genuine and should not be edited.
